Hope 08 Events in Brighton and Hove

Hope 08 is intended to provide churches of all shapes and sizes throughout the UK with a fresh opportunity to work together across their communities over a twelve month period. 

 

The events that the BEA are hosting, as part of Hope 08, will come under the banner of Soul by the Sea.

 

BEA are now backing a number of initiatives aimed at reaching and helping our local communities in Brighton and Hove area as part of Hope 08.  There are also other Hope 08 events taking place.

Hot Zones

July 21st- 26th 'Hot Zones' is an Urban Impact Initiative, which has been successfully run by Church of Christ the King for several seasons now.  You are invited to join in with reaching the local communities through a variety of community activities. 

 

Our planned activities so far are for :

North Hove/Hangleton and South Hove in the Poets Corner area

  • Gardening / rubbish clearance over whole region 23-25th July
  • Family fun Event in Hove Park Lower School with Tough Talk on Friday night 25th July
  • Family Fun Event in Stoneham Park with Tough Talk on Saturday 26th July

Portslade to Adur region

  • Activities to be confirmed

Sea Front Concert

Diocesan May Youth Camp

May 23rd - 26th 'Diocesan May Youth Camp' - Ali Campbell the diocesan youth officer is making plans to have groups of young people bussed off site (Plumpton racecourse) and get them involved in servant evangelism alongside local churches. Caritas

 June 21st 'Caritas' - a gathering of Anglicans from across the diocese. We are anticipating around 5,000+ who will meet with their bishops, be addressed by key note speakers, Archbishop John Sentamu and Bishop Graham James and present their Mission Action Plans from each parish for the years 2009/10/11.  At the end of the day at around 4pm there is to be march up from the BC to the Hove Lawns by the Peace Statue lead by a Movement in Worship team.  Here there will be a short address and a blessing and dismissal. Gordon Banks is responsible for an 'Outreach Happening' at Hove Lawns on that day and would welcome musicians, clowns, etc, and crowds!
